História de Um Fantasma

Um motivo muito bonito de fidelidade, persistência e solidão de espíritos fixados num ente querido e num lugar de lar. Mas o potencial para uma interessante meditação filosófica acaba por se dissolver em «nonsens do festival», cujo significado nem mesmo o seu criador lhe explicará. O filme começa como um romance frágil, e desliza para a levitação existencial através de traços de mistério, com um enredo inutilmente sobre-combinado e uma conclusão insatisfatória. Tomadas longas (na maioria estáticas), formato 4:3 com cenários minimalistas, palavras mínimas, e uma grande atmosfera. (02/07/2017)

Casey Affleck morre no início do filme e passa o resto da história (exceto alguns flashbacks) debaixo dos lençóis a fazer um fantasma. A primeira metade é brutalmente aborrecida (dominada por longas tomadas estáticas nos quais pouco acontece, uma sequência de quatro minutos em que Rooney Mara come um bolo e chora enquanto o faz, fala por si) e a segunda metade é terrivelmente confusa e estranha, porque contém muitos saltos de tempo selvagens. Se o percebi bem, foi apenas porque outro personagem do filme me explicou antes, e quem sabe se é assim. Há cerca de meia dúzia de ideias brilhantes em todo o filme, mas cada uma delas é apenas marginalmente utilizada e depois varrida da mesa. É uma pena, porque ao filme não falta certamente uma atmosfera forte, e funciona como uma peculiaridade do festival, mas em termos cinematográficos, História de Um Fantasma desfaz-se miseravelmente e procurar-se-ia em vão o seu significado. "Přízrak" is definitely not a movie that will appeal to everyone. Its pace is truly so slow that at times you will just stare, wondering if the picture has frozen. The scene with the cake is the best example of this. But despite being almost wordless, the film manages to convey something to you and leave an impression on you. (25/09/2017)

I had no idea what I was in for when I started watching the film. I was all the more curious. Well, it didn't last long. Once again, it turned out that I’m not enough of an intellectual to appreciate the hidden qualities of this film. The beginning was unbelievably slow. The filmmakers embellished it with absolutely breathtaking static shots without even a trace of movement, and I started to have a bad feeling about it. After such an opening, the film continued at the same frantic pace, and the FFW button became my faithful companion, thanks to which I managed to bring the running time down to a tolerable sixty minutes. Yeah, it’s high art and whatnot, but to be clear, I’m going to give a list of things that I find a lot more entertaining and fulfilling than watching A Ghost Story: a deep cleaning of my living-room and kitchen, a voluntary visit to the dentist, clipping my grandma’s toenails, looking for Atlantis at the bottom of Devil’s Lake, half year studying for my final examination in mathematics, a marathon of Jaromír Soukup shows, running a marathon in freezing temperatures, washing dishes with cold water, going to a restaurant that didn’t get even one star from Zdeňek Pohlreich, going to a party as designated driver, working in a call centre, fishing in a dried-up lake, mushroom hunting in a housing estate, trying to convince prime minister Babiš to stop stealing.
