Baby Blood

Baby Blood é uma bela surpresa da França, concebido como um road movie de terror puro e duro, que leva o espetador numa viagem através da incomum gravidez da personagem principal e não se detém nem por um momento. O terror fisicamente desagradável não poupa nem nas impressionantes cenas sangrentas, nem no humor negro bastante absurdo (especialmente no último terço), lembra um pouco, por exemplo, as obras de Frank Henenlotter. Para os fãs dos filmes de terror série B, é uma obrigação. E nem me tinha ocorrido antes em como seria conveniente assisti-lo na Netflix em dose dupla com o filme Baxter, já que o próprio bull terrier Baxter tem aqui uma pequena participação especial. This wasn’t bad at all. The beginning in the circus is a bit bland, but things get going after some time and the climax, where we can see the monsters in all their glory, is actually very good. The story won’t surprise anyone, it’s another of the endless variations of a person infected by a parasite, which of course doesn’t matter, Baby Blood is about blood and diversity of murders. PS: The synopsis mentions the young, beautiful Yanka, something I can certainly not agree with, she’s very unattractive. (13/06/2010)

The French production Baby Blood is over thirty years old, even though it certainly has not lost any of its ability to impress the viewer. It took me quite a long time to get around to watching it, and I think this is one of those horror movies, at least European horror movies, that should be preserved for posterity. There is definitely something good about this pleasantly surprising movie based on a decent concept. (20/01/2020)
